This course combines both theory and practical work. The course covers the scientific aspects of animal care as well as the advanced aspects designed to give you a broad spectrum of knowledge and the opportunity for progression into higher education. It also incorporates the management of small animal establishments, including supervision. A period of industrial placement is a major integral part of the course allowing you to work in a variety of animal management placements including zoos, pet shops, kennels or animal welfare organisations. You will also carry out duties on the college’s animal care unit. Methods of study will include demonstrations, lectures, tutorials, practical tasks and assignment work.
